Who We Are
Our Biography
Sequoya Literary Arts Magazine is St. John's University's oldest creative publication. Since the 1920s, Sequoya has published one magazine a year to showcase the highest quality of poetry, prose, photography, and artwork produced by St. John’s University's students. Though we are traditionally a print publication, we are changing with the times along with everyone else.
The choice to transform Sequoya from a strictly-print publication to a hybrid publication (both online and hardcopy) is an attempt to broaden Sequoya's audience, submission rate, outreach, and accessibility. Sequoya is for everyone- our publication is reflective of SJU's population, and that's exactly our mission.
About Our 2020 Publication
Why Online?
This year has brought its challenges to our team, our school community, and our publication just as it has brought challenges to the rest of the world. The 2020 publication was intended to be a print publication released at the end of our Spring semester. Plans changed, and unfortunately, we had to put the publication on hold.

What you see on this website is the culmination of the hard work put in by those who submitted their works of literature and art and the hard work of our editorial staff who took something that was broken and created a new, beautiful piece of collective art. We are proud of this publication, and we are so glad to finally share it with you.
